Gwyn has been a professional artist for over twenty-five years. She studied illustration at Manchester and for many years gained a serious reputation for the book-covers she produced for most of the famous authors in the land (in conjunction with her London agents, Artist Partners).
Gwyn now concentrates on her own work and is currently putting together a series of paintings based on 'rehearsal' of which these are but a few. The complete set features music (both classical and rock), dance, theatre (she has produced a set for the Library Theatre Company, Manchester, featuring the play 'A Day In The Death of Joe Egg'), circus and choral, to name but a few.
Her commissioned work is in great demand and, as another string to her bow, she is arguably one of the top mural artists working in the UK.
The ballet sequences shows the nervous students watching the tutor go through a routine, which they then have to emulate. The ballet dance sequence is where the students are doing the routine themselves (studies taken from the Northern Ballet School).
The two images of May dancing feature a single dancer in the studio. A lonely existence captured by Gwyneth.
